Baptisms

Baptism is a gift of God, open to all. If you have a child you would like to be baptised, or wish to be baptised yourself, then please contact us at the Parish Office.
Baptism is normally administered to those living within the parish – or for those outside of the parish, but with current involvement or historic links with either St Leonard's or the parish of Turners Hill.
However, please do not be put off – the vicar is always happy to consider requests for baptism!
When people are baptised as adults they are normally confirmed at the same time.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a further stage in the Christian pilgrimage. At a Confirmation service, which is led by the Bishop, a person proclaims for his or her self the vows made at Baptism (usually for children by their Godparents).
Children are normally ten or older, but like baptism, you are never too old!
People wishing to be confirmed join church members in a series of informal conversations to explore what it means and what is involved.
For further information please contact the Parish Office.
Weddings
GETTING MARRIED? If so, you will need your Banns read on three separate occasions. Please ensure you contact the Parish Office at least 3 months before your wedding date to ensure there is enough time to read your Banns. Services take place on alternate Sundays between the two churches.
If you live within the Parish of Turners Hill, or have a ‘qualifing connection’, then you are eligible to hold your marriage ceremony at St Leonard's. These regulations are set in law, and you can find more details here.
We welcome all enquiries and if you choose to be married in church, we will do all we can to help make your special day both enjoyable and memorable. Please contact the Parish Office.
Funerals
If you are visiting this page because you have been bereaved we would like to assure you of our love, support and prayers. A Christian funeral acknowledges the closing of a human life on earth and the grief felt by those loved ones left behind, but it also speaks of the hope and faith that there is eternal life to be found in Jesus Christ. Funerals are a time to mark the end of a person’s life on earth, with family and friends coming together to express grief, to give thanks for the life lived and to commend the person into God’s keeping. Every funeral is different and unique. To enquire about holding a funeral at St Leonard’s, please contact our parish office.
